A lunar eclipse has begun, with people across the world observing the rare celestial event.

In several countries, the much-anticipated sight of the reddish “blood moon” has already appeared. In Bangladesh, the eclipse will be visible after 11:30pm Sunday, according to officials.

The partial eclipse has started in China, where a faint shadow is visible on the moon, while in Dubai the moon has taken on a reddish hue. In Bangladesh, the partial phase is yet to become clear.

The eclipse will continue until early Monday (Sept 8), lasting a total of 7 hours and 27 minutes. It will be visible in Bangladesh and many other parts of the world.

According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), the eclipse will be visible from Bangladesh if the sky remains cloud-free.
