The long-awaited July National Charter Signing Ceremony, originally scheduled for October 15, has been rescheduled to October 17, a Friday, to allow broader public participation.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the National Consensus Commission (NCC) at the State Guest House Jamuna, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Commission Vice-Chairman Prof Dr Ali Riaz described the ceremony as a historic milestone. “Holding the event on a Friday afternoon will make it more accessible to members of the public who wish to witness this significant occasion,” he said.

Representatives from various political parties and alliances across the country will take part in the signing, and individuals from diverse professional and social backgrounds will also be invited, Prof Riaz added.

NCC members including Dr Badiul Alam Majumder, Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Monir Haider were present at the meeting where the rescheduling was finalized.

The change underscores the Commission’s aim to ensure inclusivity and public engagement, highlighting the ceremony’s significance in fostering a unified national consensus.
