Dhaka, Sept 14 (UNB) – The trial of Sheikh Hasina will be held in line with international standards and not as a showpiece, said Sarjis Alam, Chief Organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the northern region.
Speaking at a views-exchange meeting with expatriates in Tokyo, Japan, Sarjis said, “The trial of killer Hasina will be conducted in such a standard that all global standards and legal frameworks will recognize it. So, we will not hold the trial of killer Hasina as a formality.”
He alleged that Hasina had extrajudicially killed Islamic scholars and politicians to serve her own interests, adding that the trial would follow due process at the ICT tribunal as she was responsible for ordering the killing of thousands of students and people.
At the same event, NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari said the 1972 constitution excluded the blood of Muslims. He alleged that over the last 15 years, the Awami League government had legitimized killing anyone on the streets if they wore a beard, cap, or clothes above the ankles by labeling them as militants.
“The Awami League has implemented India’s agenda in Bangladesh and acted as its force inside the country,” Nasir added.
Expatriates at the programme strongly demanded the resumption of direct flights on the “Japan to Bangladesh” route by Biman Bangladesh Airlines and urged for voting rights in the upcoming election.
They also called for easier procedures to repatriate the bodies of Bangladeshis who die in Japan.
