The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) has hosted a high-level investment seminar in Istanbul titled ‘Gateway to Growth: Invest in Bangladesh’, aiming to deepen economic ties and attract fresh Turkish investment into Bangladesh’s fast-growing economy.

The event, held at Delta Hotels by Marriott in Istanbul Levent, brought together over 30 Turkish companies currently investing or exploring entry into Bangladesh’s market.

It was jointly organized by BIDA, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Türkiye, and the Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD), with technical support from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group.

In his keynote presentation, BIDA’s Head of Business Development Nahian Rahman Rochi highlighted promising investment opportunities in textiles, electronics, and renewable energy—three priority sectors driving Bangladesh’s next phase of industrial growth.

There has never been a better time to enter Bangladesh,” he said, citing improvements in macroeconomic stability, export growth, and investor-friendly policy reforms.

The government has implemented 32 targeted reform initiatives to ease business entry, and BIDA’s One Stop Service platform provides full-spectrum support—from investment advisory to factory setup—for new investors,” he added.

BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury led the Bangladeshi delegation and directly engaged with Turkish business leaders during the seminar, addressing queries and outlining the government’s reform-driven investment environment.

Executives from leading Turkish companies already operating in Bangladesh shared success stories. Barış Alparslan, CFO of Arçelik—the parent company of Singer Bangladesh—underscored the firm’s commitment to building a resilient local supply chain and investing in workforce development.

Ercüment Polat, Assistant General Manager (Sales) at Aygaz, detailed the company’s expansion in Bangladesh, noting BIDA’s facilitation through the One Stop Service, a growing local workforce of over 200 employees, and a nationwide distribution network now reaching nearly three million consumers.

The seminar also featured remarks from MÜSİAD Board Member Muhammet Huzeyfe Güllüoğlu and Bangladesh’s Consul General in Istanbul, Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, both of whom highlighted the expanding economic partnership between the two countries.

The Istanbul seminar was part of a broader strategic mission led by BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury, accompanied by senior officials from the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), the National Board of Revenue (NBR), and the banking sector.

As part of the mission, a series of Government-to-Business (G2B) meetings were held on 7–8 October with leading Turkish conglomerates across key sectors.

BIDA is also working to establish long-term institutional partnerships with major Turkish industry bodies, including TÜRKONFED, to promote sustained private-sector collaboration between Bangladesh and Türkiye.
