Within just 24 hours, the price of gold has been increased again in the local market, with Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raising the rate by Tk 3,663 per bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold.

With the latest hike, the price of 22-carat gold has reached Tk 1,94,859 per bhori — the highest in the country’s history, BAJUS announced in a press release on Tuesday night. The new rate will be effective from Wednesday.

BAJUS said the price of pure gold (tejabi) has increased in the local market. Considering the overall situation, the new rates have been fixed accordingly.

As per the revised price, each bhori of 21-carat gold will cost Tk 1,86,006, 18-carat gold Tk 1,59,424, and traditional gold Tk 1,32,351.

The selling price of gold will include 5 percent VAT fixed by the government and a minimum making charge of 6 percent set by BAJUS. However, the making charge may vary depending on design and quality of jewellery.

Earlier on September 22, BAJUS adjusted the gold price by increasing Tk 1,574 per bhori, fixing the rate of 22-carat gold at Tk 1,91,196 per bhori.
