Gold prices in Bangladesh fell again within hours on Monday, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) cutting the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 5,424 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk 245,760.

BAJUS announced the latest revision in an afternoon notification, making the total reduction Tk 12,014 in a single day. The new prices came into effect from Monday afternoon.

Earlier in the morning, BAJUS had already lowered gold prices by Tk 6,590 per bhori, fixing the 22-carat rate at Tk 251,184.

According to BAJUS, the fresh adjustment was made considering the overall market situation following a decline in the price of pure gold (tejabi) in the local market.

Under the new rates, 21-carat gold is priced at Tk 234,563 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 201,087, while gold under the traditional method is set at Tk 164,523 per bhori.

The selling price of gold will be subject to a mandatory 5 percent VAT set by the government and a minimum 6 percent making charge fixed by BAJUS, though making charges may vary depending on design and quality.

So far in 2026, gold prices have been adjusted 22 times in the local market — increased on 14 occasions and reduced eight times.

Alongside gold, silver prices were also cut. BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat silver by Tk 933 per bhori to Tk 6,357. The price of 21-carat silver now stands at Tk 6,065 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 5,202, and traditional silver at Tk 3,907 per bhori.

This marks the 15th adjustment of silver prices this year, with prices increased nine times and reduced six times.

Meanwhile, gold prices are also trending downward in the global market, where spot gold is trading at around $4,750 per ounce, down by more than $135 within a day.
