Bangladesh’s Commerce Adviser Sk Bashiruddin has said the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) controversy will have no impact on the country’s business and trade relations.

Speaking after a meeting at the Secretariat on Sunday, he said the government is finalising a new import policy order aimed at simplifying and liberalising trade.

The policy will soon be presented at a meeting of the advisory council, he said.

Bashiruddin also addressed concerns over the cricketing dispute, which arose after Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman was released from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad for the IPL 2026 season.

He emphasised that the matter will not affect bilateral trade with India.
