The 30th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) is set to begin on Saturday at its permanent venue in Purbachal’s Rupganj area of Narayanganj.

The fair will be inaugurated at 10:30am at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BCFEC) in Sector 4 of Purbachal, according to officials.

Sources at the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) said the fair was initially scheduled to be inaugurated on January 1. However, the government declared three days of national mourning following the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, prompting the authorities to defer the opening to January 3.

Traditionally, the Dhaka International Trade Fair has been held from the first day of the year since 1995. Since 2022, the event has been organised at the permanent venue at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal’s Sector 4.

This year marks the fifth consecutive edition of the fair at the Purbachal venue. Organisers said all preparations for the event have almost been completed.
