The country’s capital markets moved through ups and downs during the first half of trading on Wednesday, with mixed performances seen on both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).

At the DSE, the benchmark DSEX index rose by 6 points, while the Shariah-based DSES gained just 1 point.

The blue-chip DS30 index remained unchanged.

Out of the traded issues, prices advanced for 192 companies, declined for 106, and remained unchanged for 88.

Turnover at the DSE crossed Tk 170 crore in the first half of the session.

Meanwhile, the CSE witnessed a downward trend from the morning, with its index hovering around the flat mark after 12:00 noon.

On the port city bourse, share prices increased for 43 companies against declines in 30, while 40 issues remained unchanged.

Turnover at the CSE stood at over Tk 1.80 crore during the first half of trading.
