Bangladesh will continue to enjoy duty-free access to the UK market until 2029, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook said on Sunday.
Speaking at the ‘HSBC Export Excellence Award 2025’ event at a hotel in Dhaka, she said nearly 92 percent of Bangladeshi products — including ready-made garments — will also enter the UK market duty-free even beyond 2029.
This decision, she noted, will help Bangladesh diversify its export basket and enhance long-term stability in the sector.
The High Commissioner added that the announcement reflects the UK’s strong interest in strengthening its long-term trade and economic partnership with Bangladesh.
She also expressed optimism that the future economic ties between the two countries would grow even stronger.
