The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of gold by Tk 5,248 per bhori, setting the new rate for 22-carat gold at Tk 2,13,719 per bhori.
In a statement issued Thursday night, BAJUS said the revised prices will come into effect from Friday.
According to the notice, the price of refined (pure) gold has increased in the local market, prompting the adjustment.
Under the new rates, 21-carat gold will cost Tk 2,04,003 per bhori, 18-carat gold Tk 1,74,855 per bhori, and traditional gold Tk 1,45,520 per bhori.
BAJUS also noted that the final selling price must include the government-fixed 5% VAT and the association’s minimum making charge of 6%, which may vary depending on jewelry design and craftsmanship.
The last adjustment was made on November 11, when BAJUS raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 4,188 to Tk 2,08,471 per bhori.
So far this year, gold prices have been adjusted 76 times — with 53 hikes and 23 reductions.
The price of silver, however, remains unchanged, with 22-carat silver selling at Tk 4,246 per bhori in the local market.
