Hasina War Crimes Case: Verdict Date Expected Today

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) will fix today the date for delivering its verdict in the war crimes case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and two others over crimes against humanity allegedly committed during July–August.The three-member panel of the ICT-1, led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumder, is scheduled to set the date on Thursday (Nov 13). The other accused in the case are former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun.Earlier, on October 23, the tribunal completed the trial proceedings and set today (Thursday) for announcing the date of the verdict. At that time, the tribunal said the date would be announced “soon.”Of the accused, Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has testified as a prosecution witness, while Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan are absconding.
