After 10 consecutive days of demonstrations, non-government MPO-listed teachers and employees have announced the withdrawal of their protest programme. The decision came following the government’s issuance of a gazette increasing their house rent allowance by 15 per cent.The teachers said they accepted the government’s decision and would return to classrooms, while continuing discussions over their remaining demands.Following days of sit-ins, demonstrations and hunger strikes, the agitating teachers and employees declared that they would now resume their duties at their respective institutions.On Tuesday (21 October), teachers expressed joy at the Central Shaheed Minar after the government issued the notification of the 15 per cent rise in house rent allowance.
