The price of gold in Bangladesh has surpassed Tk 2 lakh per bhori (11.664 grams) for the first time, following continued price hikes in September and early October.On Monday night, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,150 per bhori, setting it at Tk 2,726 per bhori — the highest in the country’s history.The new price will come into effect from Tuesday.BAJUS said the increase reflects a rise in the value of pure gold in the local market.
