Trading on the country’s two stock exchanges began the week on a negative note Sunday, as most company shares declined during the first hour of transactions.

At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the key index DSEX dropped by 42 points in the first hour of trading.

The Shariah-based DSES index lost 11 points, while the blue-chip DS30 index fell by 17 points.

Out of the traded securities, prices of 77 companies advanced, 262 declined, and 52 remained unchanged.

The turnover at the DSE stood at over Tk 220 crore during the first hour.

The downward trend was also seen at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), where the overall index fell by 89 points.

Prices of 18 companies increased, while 61 declined and 11 remained unchanged.

The CSE recorded a turnover of over Tk 2 crore in share and unit transactions during the first hour of trading.
