House Rent Allowance for MPO-Registered Teachers Increased Further

The Ministry of Finance has approved an increase in house rent allowance for teachers of private educational institutions registered under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) system. From 1 November, the allowance will be set at 7.5 per cent of the basic salary, while a retrospective payment of 15 per cent will be applicable from July.Education Secretary Rehana Parveen confirmed the decision to journalists on Tuesday.Earlier, on Sunday, the Ministry of Finance had issued a notification raising the house rent allowance for MPO-registered teachers by 5 per cent. However, the teachers, dissatisfied with the increment, continued their protests demanding a higher allowance.
