Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 296 people and filed 46 cases during its regular drives across the capital in 24 hours till Thursday morning.

During the drives, police seized  132 kg of cannabis, 14,765 yaba tablets, 2 grams of heroin, a motorcycle, a knife, two anti-cutters, an auto-rickshaw, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, 13 mobile phones, a jeep, a key, a crude bomb (cocktail) and seven plastic containers filled with petrol, said a press release.

Police said they were arrested during raids conducted in different police station areas of the capital.

Legal action against the arrestees is underway, it added.
