A 50-year-old housewife was electrocuted after coming into contact with a snapped electric wire in Parshuram upazila of Feni on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Nonai Bibi, wife of Abul Kashem of North Mohammadpur village under Box Mahmmud Union in the upazila.

The incident occurred around 8:30 am near Zardar Bari in the village.

According to police and locals, Nonai noticed a power line hanging across the road after being snapped during a storm while she was crossing the road. Concerned about the safety of pedestrians, she tried to remove the wire but was electrocuted.

Locals rescued her and took her to Parshuram Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physician declared her dead.

Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Parshuram Upazila Health Complex Dr Iftekhar Hasan Bhuiyan said the woman had died before being brought to the hospital.

Md Ashraful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Parshuram Model Police Station, said police were informed about the incident and legal action would be taken following due process.
